What Are the Different Types of Zombies

How to Market to Your Customers- Six Proven Methods

Unless you have been living under a rock and avoiding all social media, you will likely hear chattering about The Last of Us. ExpressVPN’s blog piece introduces you to the different types of zombies in this HBO gem.

Both zombies and zombie films are pervasive, resilient, and appear in waves. The many kinds of zombies may be found below. If you chance to run across one of these people while traveling, it will do you well to be prepared.

1. Voodoo victim

Zombies may trace their roots all the way back to the Afro-Caribbean religion of Vodou when humans were transformed into mindless slaves using pufferfish extract and magic rituals.

White Zombie (1932)

2. Soulless flesh

The flesh of these zombies has been reanimated. The spirit has passed through the portal to the afterlife, and the body has returned to earth via supernatural or scientific methods.

Night of the Living Dead (1968)

3. Demonic possession

Those gory monsters may be a pain at times. They can infest just about any surface, even human beings.

The Evil Dead (1981)

4. Viral Infection

These zombies aren’t really dead; instead, they’ve contracted a virus that messes with their brains. It’s possible that this is a spontaneously mutated variant of a common virus, or it might be a biological weapon created by humans.

28 Days Later (2002)

5. Parasitic Infection

Identical to the afflicted, except instead of a virus, it’s annoying parasitic critters consuming and manipulating the brain.

Night of the Creeps (1986)

6. Fungal Infection

This new strain of infection was conceived after seeing the zombification of insects by a fungus belonging to the cordyceps family.

The Last of Us (Naughty Dog Entertainment)

7. Cybernetic

A more up-to-date version of the soulless flesh. Technology is used ingeniously to bring the dead back to life.

Virus (1999)

8. Other

Due to the lack of everyday use, familiarity, or agreed-upon definitions, I will treat the remainder of these items as a single category.

9. I am Legend (2007)

There you have it; the eight most common zombie “classes.” In the wild, what percentage have you seen? Which one do you like best? Which of these terrifying scenarios do you think is most likely to occur? To what extent do each of these scenarios hold water? Have you encountered any other groups that may benefit from their specific labels?
